EHS Alum new Visual/Performing Arts Specialist at DOE

Jason Anderson, 1999 EHS graduate, has been appointed as the new Visual & Performing Arts Specialist and Washington County Regional Education Representative at the Maine Department of Education.  Jason earned degrees at the University of Maine in Vocal Music Education and Conducting.  He taught in Vermont and in Houlton for the last 14 years and recently earned a second Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through Southern New Hampshire University.  Jason will be responsible for supporting all arts educators statewide through professional development opportunities, advocacy resources, networking and most importantly, "raising the consciousness of the importance of arts education in the holistic development of every child". Jason expressed the following,"I'm very grateful for the education that I received at Ellsworth High School; my mentor teachers encouraged me to excel, and without their belief in me I don't know if I would have achieved all that I've achieved.  I'm excited at the prospects of being a leader, and I'm certain that the drive, determination, and self-discipline that I learned as an Ellsworth Eagle will serve me well as I venture into this next chapter of my professional life." Congratulations and best of luck to Jason!
