I am the Medical Program Instructor at Hancock County Technical Center, where I have taught Certified Nursing Assisting, Certified Residential Medication Aide and Medical Terminology since 2009. I have spent the four of my six years at HCTC as the school’s Literacy Coach, attending multiple trainings focused on this work. To stay current, I am also an active member of the Maine Healthcare Workforce Forum and the Maine Health Occupations Education Association.
I am a graduate of Ellsworth High School and attended Husson College receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Before beginning my RN career, I worked as Certified Nursing Assistant in a long-term care facility. As a Registered Nurse, I have worked in a variety of different health care facilities throughout my fourteen years of nursing, including respiratory rehab and a skilled rehab unit working with brain injury patients. I also spent time working per diem at Mount Desert Island Hospital and Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, where I received experience as a Med-Surg staff nurse.
I also worked as a surgical nurse for about eleven years, working locally at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Acadia Medical Arts Ambulatory Surgery Suite, and Coastal Eye Surgery Center.
